Do a Charity Skydive in aid of: Susie Long Hospice Fund

Registered Charity Number: 17950

The Susie Long Hospice Fund (SLHF) was set up in October 2007 to provide the highest possible quality of end-of-life care for patients and their families through the establishment of a 10-bed hospice in Kilkenny. The Fund plans to meet this challenge through fundraising, increasing awareness of the need and benefits of local hospice care and by lobbying Government for support.

ABOUT SUSIE

The SLHF was established in memory of Susie Long who died on October 12th 2007. The final weeks of Susie's life were spent in the caring and peaceful environment of Our Lady’s Hospice at Harold's Cross in Dublin, the supportive atmosphere of which helped Susie and her family to face the end of her life with a sense of calm.

ABOUT THE HOSPICE

There is no hospice in Kilkenny. 50% of people from Kilkenny who die, do so in acute hospitals, in an environment often totally unsuitable to their own needs and the needs of their families, surrounded by noise and trauma and often in overcrowded, public settings. With the provision of a dedicated 10-bed hospice in Kilkenny, the SLHF aims for as many people as possible to have the calm, peaceful and supportive environment at the end of their lives which everyone deserves.
