Do a Charity Skydive in aid of: National Breast Cancer Research Institute
Registered Charity Number: 9997
The National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI) is a voluntary based charity located at the Clinical Science Institute, University College Hospital, Galway. It was launched by former President Mary Robinson on Mother’s Day 1991.
See web site www.nbcri.ie or www.breastcancerresearch.ieUp to 2000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in Ireland each year. As yet breast cancer cannot be prevented, its incidence can only be reduced by early detection. Treatments are available for breast cancer but ongoing research is essential to ensure the optimal treatment for all patients, to reduce their side effects, improve their quality of life and, primarily, increase their chance of survival.
The key objective of the NBCRI is to conduct relevant, ethical research into the biology of breast cancer to determine the cause of this disease and improve the treatment for patients. The NBCRI also works to raise awareness of breast cancer and fundraise to provide improved breast cancer services for women throughout Ireland.
