In October 2002 the I.S.P.C.A. opened Irelands first National Animal Centre in Co. Longford. The centre is used for the convalescing and rehabilitation of the most cruelly treated, neglected and abused animals for the whole of Ireland. The location, in the Midlands enables us to serve all areas of the country. Following the centres opening, the Society further expanded its services and employed an additional three welfare Inspectors. A national cruelty help line has also been opened to serve all areas of Ireland (1890 515 515). Following a huge increase in cruelty calls and cases involving equines, the ISPCA also made the brave decision to open an Equine Centre on a farm in Mallow, which was bequeathed to the Society.

These initiatives brought with them huge financial implications for the Society, and while we must continue our vital work we cannot do so without the support of members of the public, and organisations willing to help. As an animal charity, we do not qualify for lottery funding, and we received a one off grant from the government in December 2006 for €80,000, to run all of our services; so as you can imagine any assistance we can receive we are truly grateful for.

The ISPCA has been experiencing many difficulties in the whole area of animal welfare, and we really need to increase our funding so that we may continue to tackle abuse and neglect of the thousands of animals that desperately need our help. In 2008 the ISPCA needs to raise €2 million. This money will simply help to maintain our current level of service. Of this money €1.9million has to be raised from charitable donations. Skydiving is a fundraising avenue for the ISPCA, and we sincerely thank anyone that considers jumping over the edge for us!

Each Sponsorship Card ordered requires a non-refundable booking deposit of €20.00. This deposit is part of the minimum €600 fundraising target you are asked to reach in order to complete your Tandem Skydive. It helps combat fraud and deters those who may not really have the conviction to complete the fundraising for their chosen charity
