The Irish Red Cross is part of the worldwide Red Cross Red Crescent movement, the largest humanitarian organisation in the world. We provide a range of services at a national and international level. This year within Ireland, through our network of 115 branches, we have provided various services in the local community; from first aid training and cover at local and national events, to therapeutic hand care for the ill and the elderly, support and information for carers and a skin camouflage service for those with disfiguring skin conditions. We also provide a mountain and lake search service as well as assistance for victims of disasters such as flooding.

On an international level, the Irish Red Cross continues to alleviate suffering in numerous ways. We provide delegates to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to carry out roles of vital importance: promotion of health and disease prevention, disaster preparedness, the distribution of shelter and relief supplies to internationally displaced people in war torn countries. We also provide assistance to refugees who have sought refuge from such countries, and to victims of natural disasters.

Our most recent and ongoing appeals include areas such as Darfur in Sudan, and also contributions and assistance to flood victims in Bangladesh and Africa.

All of these national services, the vital work we carry out overseas and the maintenance of our emergency relief fund, are only possible with the assistance of people such as you who are sensitive to the plight of those in need. Every donation made is much appreciated and enables the Red Cross to be there to assist vulnerable people and to meet their basic needs

Each Sponsorship Card ordered requires a non-refundable registration fee of €30.00. It helps combat fraud and deters those who may not really have the conviction to complete the fundraising for their chosen charity.
